FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – TUESDAY 14 APRIL
Leading organisations from across Scotland will come together on Wednesday 15 April in Edinburgh to call for a more joined-up approach to supporting people with neurodevelopmental conditions, as pressures grow across health, education and public services.
Convened by the Scottish ADHD Coalition, the meeting will bring together neurodevelopmental charities alongside organisations working with young people, the care sector, mental health and suicide prevention, and clinicians to explore how greater collaboration could improve outcomes for individuals and families.
With neurodevelopmental conditions cutting across multiple areas of public policy and public finance, a more coordinated approach could help address common barriers.
The meeting comes at a time of growing policy focus in Scotland on neurodevelopmental pathways and follows indications that the Scottish Government is developing further work in this area.
Bill Colley, Chair of the Scottish ADHD Coalition, said:
“This meeting reflects a growing recognition that neurodevelopmental conditions cannot be addressed in isolation within the health sector.
“This is a real opportunity to bring together expertise to support more collaborative working for individuals and families, and to support more joined-up policy approaches. We can work together to improve outcomes now for the neurodivergent community in Scotland.”
